Two active agents have been formulated for topical delivery to skin and oral mucosa. Two Phase I clinical studies have been completed and two additional Phase I/II clinical studies are currently enrolling patients. Topical, organ-specific delivery of protective molecules is a key element of the ProCertus therapeutic strategy because it minimizes the risk of systemically delivering protective agents to sites that may harbor micrometastases.
