ProCertus continues to identify tissues to which topically applied radio- and chemoprotectors can be delivered to confer protection against chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. Two active agents have been formulated for topical delivery to skin and oral mucosa. The first Phase I clinical study is completed; two additional Phase I/II clinical studies will be launched in 2008. Topical, organ-specific delivery of protective molecules is a key element of the ProCertus therapeutic strategy because it minimizes the risk of systemically delivering protective agents to sites that may harbor micrometastases.
